President’s Council approved Policy 210 to enter Stage 3 University Community Review. The drafting committee made revisions based on comments they received from shared governance entities. Presidents Council has approved Policy 113 to enter Stage 1. Policy revisions will clarify and communicate expectations and responsibilities around award giving, as well as ensure consistency and fairness in award amounts and selection of award recipients. Revisions will also include clarifying eligibility; guidelines for nominations, approvals, monitoring, and rubrics; policy definitions; and guidelines for ensuring equity and fairness in the process.

Presidents Council has approved Policy 168 to enter Stage 1. Policy revisions will create a procedural framework for whistleblower retaliation investigations and hearings, ensure compliance with state law, add language for dismissing meritless complaints, and remove protection for those who are “expected to engage” in protected activity.

Presidents Council has approved Policy 603 to enter Stage 1. Policy revisions will ensure the policy is more comprehensive by setting standards, processes, and timelines; creating a systematic approach to collecting and analyzing data on the effectiveness of UVU’s academic programs; and specifying how UVU academic and assessment leaders will guide, coordinate, and implement this policy.

Presidents Council has approved Policy 609 to enter Stage 1. The new policy will set standards for academic scheduling, which encompasses classrooms and laboratory spaces at UVU. With this new policy, all classrooms and laboratory spaces will be scheduled through the Academic Scheduling Office, who will reinforce priority initiatives; promote multidepartment synergy; ensure that the spaces are being used optimally; and ensure compliance with accreditation standards, government regulations, and Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) policy. The policy will also ensure compliance with federal definitions of a credit hour and hour per week requirements.
Policies Withdrawn from the Policy Process
Policy 212 Electronic Signatures
Policy 212 Electronic Signatures was originally approved to enter Stage 1 of the policy process as a new policy. However, it was determined that this policy is not necessary as it is already covered in university policy and Utah state law.
