Today, December 11, 2023, UVU's Board of Trustees approved the following policies to be updated in the Policy Manual.
Policy 113 University Awards
Approval Process | Temporary |
Policy Sponsor | Kara Schneck |
Policy Stewards | Tearsa Burke |
Policy Actions | Renewal |
Board of Trustees Action | Approved |
Policy Manual Entry | Policy 113 |
Who does this apply to? Staff and faculty
Now that this temporary policy has been extended for 6 months, what does this change mean for me? For now, nothing. This current temporary policy will remain in effect until June 11, 2024; the regular policy, which is currently in Stage 1 Drafting, will replace it by that date.
Policy 157 Alcoholic Beverages, Unlawful Drugs, and Other Illegal Substances
Approval Process | Regular |
Policy Sponsor | Marilyn Meyer |
Policy Stewards | Drew Burke |
Policy Actions | Deletion |
Board of Trustees Action | Approved |
Who does this apply to? Staff, faculty, and students
Now that the policy is deleted, what’s next? The information that was in this policy has been updated and added to Policy 155 Alcohol- and Drug-Free Workplace, which applies to all employees. Please visit the new policy if you have questions about this topic. Students should be familiar with the rules around alcohol in Policy 541 Student Code of Conduct.
Policy 211 Employee Appreciation and Recognition (Gifts and Rewards)
Approval Process | Regular |
Policy Sponsor | Jim Mortensen |
Policy Stewards | John Richards, Kedric Black |
Policy Actions | Deletion |
Board of Trustees Action | Approved |
Who does this apply to? Staff and faculty
Why was this deleted? Policy 211 was originally created to address a gap in Policy 204 Appropriateness of Expenditures regarding purchases for employee appreciation and recognition gifts and awards. Since that time, Policy 204 has been revised, with details about specific purchases moved into guidelines. This gave the policy owners the ability to quickly adjust the guidelines and rules as needed. What was covered in Policy 211 is now covered in these guidelines; therefore, Policy 211 is no longer needed and has been approved for deletion.
Now that this policy has been deleted, what’s next? This policy has been removed from the Policy Manual and archived. When considering purchases for employee recognition, supervisors should now consult the Purchasing Card Manual.
