Eligibility: Veterans, service members, dependents, and spouses with need or merit.
Eligible students may receive: Up to $1,000 per award year, split between Fall and Spring semesters.
Payment method: Awarded by UVU directly to the student financial account.
The UVU Military-Affiliated Student Hub Scholarship was established in 2016 to benefit Utah Valley University students who are either veterans or dependent children or spouses of veterans. The scholarship is awarded in two categories: Merit-based (based upon academic performance) and Needs-based. The money can help cover education expenses that are not paid by benefits, as well as help students who do not have access to benefits.
The scholarship application period is typically open October through February of each academic year, and the money awarded is then applied to the following Fall and Spring semesters. The amount awarded to recipients is typically $1,000. This money is split across the two semesters evenly, $500 to fall and $500 to spring. The center typically awards at least 15 scholarships per year.
The UVU Military-Affiliated Student Hub is designed to not interfere or penalize students who are also utilizing the GI Bill®. Eligibility requirements apply. Applications are to be completed on the UVU Scholarships website, as outlined in the steps on this page.
Apply for residency status for in-state tuition rates.
If you are leaving on military orders for deployment, mobilization, or training, or if you need to take a break from your studies for another reason, complete a Leave of Absence form. Undergraduate students may take a leave of absence for a total of seven semesters, including summers.
There are several institutional policies at UVU that protect veterans and military-affiliated students.
