Academic Advising at Utah Valley University is provided by specially trained and qualified professional staff located in each of the eight colleges/schools and the First-Year Advising Center. Advisors specialize in particular academic disciplines and are committed to providing students with both responsive and proactive support while also empowering them to become self-directed learners and decision makers.
Advisors offer guidance to students, enabling them to discover, plan, pursue, and achieve personal, academic and professional goals. Advisors value and respond to students’ diverse backgrounds, interests, challenges, and abilities, and work with each individual student to design an individualized academic plan.
The advisement community is supported by the Office of University Advising that provides a wide-ranging training and development program, technical resources and advocacy, and a comprehensive assessment plan.
