Planning, Budgeting and Assessment [PBA]: Dive into the Assessment Process for Better Resource Stewardship

One of those terms is data governance, which can be confusing and overwhelming, and understanding it more fully is beneficial for everyone in higher ed. If you have wondered what data governance is, how we all are part of it, and how we can best participate, this is a great session to attend. Using sports analogies, humor, and a few data points, the presenters will make data governance easy to understand and even fun to participate in. The Performance Measures Roadmap

This presentation will cover the history and development of Utah’s higher education performance measures on Access, Timely Completion, and High Yield. Participants will also learn how institutional data as well as that from USBE and the National Student Clearinghouse are used to prepare institutional performance measures. Participants will gain insight into the interrelatedness of various system-reported files, the reporting calendar, data processing, and the annual goal-setting timeline.

Making Better Program Decisions Using Gray Decision Intelligence (Gray DI) Software

This session is designed mainly for deans, associate deans, department chairs, and program coordinators. We’ll walk you through how to use Gray DI to support your program decision making. You will gain valuable information about how to access the variety of available dashboards and what metrics to look for to better evaluate your programs within departments and colleges. Further resources and information on analyzing program market analysis and financial cost of instruction will be shared through examples and analysis tips.

Promoting student success often requires working with to data many students find sensitive. This session examines how those using data for student retention can promote student success while protecting student privacy by applying federal and state law and sound privacy practices. Using tools such as Privacy Impact Assessment and Privacy by Design, it shows how the expectations of FERPA's school official authority for data disclosure and state rules on sharing data with vendors can effectively guide the use of sensitive student data in retention applications.
