Who We Are

The TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) helps adults make their educational goals a reality. EOC services help those who aspire to pursue postsecondary education but face barriers due to economic or social circumstances.

The EOC serves 1,000 people annually. Our services focus on serving low-income, potential first-generation college students. We also emphasize serving veterans and other military-connected individuals.

How We Help

  • FAFSA Assistance: The EOC assists students in completing the FAFSA application for financial aid. We help students understand results, answer questions, and assist in corrections.
  • Admissions: We help students navigate different college or technical school admission forms.
  • Career & Major Exploration: We explore educational and career goals with students based on individual interests and help decide which college or program is the best fit.
  • Complete Your High School Diploma or GED: We connect students to high school completion and GED programs, depending on what program will best support the student.
  • Financial Aid: The EOC assists students with understanding their aid awards and submitting financial aid verifications.
  • Scholarships: We support students as they navigate the UVU scholarship portal and assist in completing scholarship applications.
  • Transfers: We help students transfer their college information to or from other institutions, whether a student wants to join UVU or transfer to another school.
  • Class Registrations: We teach students how to register for classes, navigate the myUVU student portal, and understand their Wolverine Track.
  • Accommodations: We support students as they apply for accommodations through Accessibility Services.
  • Residency: The EOC assists students in completing residency applications and understanding residency requirements.
  • Appeals: We help students submit appeals for decisions made on financial aid, scholarships, and academic performance.
  • Resumes & References: We coach students on how to build resumes and collect references.

Appointment Description

  • Appointments can be scheduled digitally, or over the phone at 801-290-8893, or at 385-312-8311 for Spanish speakers. Both numbers take calls and texts.
  • If scheduled digitally, you will receive a confirmation email that will remind you of the day, location, and time of your appointment.
  • Your specialist will contact you if you need to bring additional paperwork to the appointment.
  • If you are unable to find an available time to meet with one of our specialists, we encourage you to contact us.
