Policy Manual Updates: Policy Actions Approved by Board of Trustees, February 29, 2024

On February 29, 2024, UVU's Board of Trustees approved the following policy to be added into the Policy Manual.

Who does this apply to? Staff employees

What is included in this new policy? This new policy complies with Utah Board of Higher Education policies and guidelines by providing procedures should a reduction in force become neccessary. The policy  

  • defines a reduction in force
  • provides guidance for identifying staff members to be terminated
  • sets a priority of separation for part-time, temporary, and probationary staff members
  • provides notice requirements for separated employees
  • requires a recall provision if the terminated position becomes open
  • outlines benefits for the separated employees
  • allows for payment in lieu of notice for separation
