Now that it's in the Policy Manual, what does this policy mean for me? Now that it's in the Policy Manual, what does this policy mean for me? These revisions are limited, but they explain more clearly what the differences between faculty and staff issues and requirements are in reporting conflicts of interest. Ensure that your Conflict of Interest disclosure form is current and consult your manager about whether any changes to this policy will affect you.

Now that it's in the Policy Manual, what does this policy mean for me? This policy explains that when you are performing work duties, you cannot be impaired by alcohol or drugs, whether you are working from home, working on campus, or are attending a conference. The policy also explains the university resources available to those seeking help for any addictions or addictive behavior. Also covered are testing procedures.

Now that it's in the Policy Manual, what does this policy mean for me? The bulk of this policy has not changed. However, a limited number of revisions were made to update definitions and add new terms so the policy is aligned with U.S. Department of Education Title IX regulations. Added language from the revised regulations lay out a transparent grievance process with strong protections for all parties involved. A link to the full memo with all the changes can be found here.
Policy 252 International Travel
Approval Process | Regular |
Policy Sponsor | Wayne Vaught |
Policy Stewards | Baldomero Lago |
Policy Actions | Revision |
Board of Trustees Action | Approved |
Policy Manual Entry | Policy 252 |
Who does this apply to? Faculty, staff, and students
Now that it's in the Policy Manual, what does this policy mean for me? If you will be traveling abroad as part of a university program, you will need to meet the requirements of the Office for Global Engagement and have your passport and other documents up to date. Minors can accompany university employees supervising the students, but this is not encouraged; it is recommended that another accompanying adult, who is not in the program, be present to supervise the minor because university employees must be available at all times to students. These arrangements must be approved prior to the trip. As a graduate or undergraduate student, you cannot take someone abroad (even spouses) on these programs; anyone accompanying you must be a registered student and accepted into the travel program. Please read through this policy carefully if you are considering traveling abroad as part of a UVU program so you understand all the requirements and recommendations.
Policy 332 Remote Work

Policy Sponsor | Marilyn Meyer |
Policy Stewards | Drew Burke |
Policy Actions | Revision |
Board of Trustees Action | Approved |
Policy Manual Entry | Policy 332 |
Who does this apply to? Faculty and staff
Now that it's in the Policy Manual, what does this policy mean for me? The policy clarifies that work expectations are the same whether an employee is working
on campus or remotely. It also clarifies that the University does not require employees
to purchase work equipment for remote work but expects the employee to maintain and
repair equipment they own. The University is responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment
it provides. The policy also clarifies that mileage for an employees regular commute
is not reimbursable or included on a regular travel reimbursement request.

Policy Manual Entry | Policy 446, Policy 447, Policy 448, Policy 457 |
Who does this apply to? Faculty, staff, and students
Now that these policies are in the Policy Manual, what do these policies mean for me? In this bundle, out-of-date policies were removed from the manual. Three new policies, Policy 446, Policy 447, and Policy 448, provide up to date security and privacy standards. Policy 457 had a small number of revisions made to ensure university compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards. Policy 446 explains the University's obligations to protect the privacy of university community members, especially students, when collecting, processing, and transferring various types of personal data in the course of university operations. Policy 447 establishes and explains the Information Security System and the obligations of staff, faculty, and students to protect technology assets they use. Policy 448 outlines the appropriate use of the University's internet and web information resources for students, faculty, and staff and explains the requirements for requesting, obtaining, and managing domain names.
