At their November 30, 2022, meeting, President’s Council approved the following policies to enter Stage 2 Shared Governance Entities Review in the regular policy process. In this stage, Academic Affairs, Faculty Senate, PACE, and UVUSA will provide formal written commentary to policy sponsors and stewards. The policies entering Stage 2 are as follows:

The University
- “. . . is committed to protecting the privacy of information within its control in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and university policies” (section 1.1).
- May collect, process, and transfer various types of personal data to provide services, administer programs, and perform contractual obligations
- Does not conduct additional monitoring other than what is required by law.
- Conducts specific monitoring only when a violation is reported and only to determine the veracity of the allegation.
Policy 447 Information Security
This policy
- Contains no new information; we placed existing procedures into a formal policy.
- Was created to comply with laws and regulations that require our institution have a formal information security policy.
Policy 448 Web, Internet, and Domain Names
This policy
- Outlines the appropriate use of the University’s internet and web resources.
- Stipulates the requirements for requesting, obtaining, and managing domain names to protect the University’s name, brand, and reputation.
- Documents and refers to where the applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies can be found.
- Reaffirms the roles of the University Communications Committee, Strategic Web Action Team, and University Marketing and Communications in the process.
