Policy 251 Traveling on University Business
Sponsor: Linda Makin
Steward: John Richards
Policy Action: Revision, regular policy process
Approved Action: Approved for entrance to Stage 2 University Entity Review. Stage 2 will end October
1, 2022.
Summary: Revisions made to this policy addressed concerns from Internal Audit. Policy 251
was last updated June 2017, before the Travel Office implemented Concur. After four
years with an all-digital travel process, changes and refinements to operations require
a simplification of the current policy and moving detailed rules/restrictions out
of the policy to guidelines. Moving these procedural details to guidelines, which
can be revised as needed, will give UVU administration flexibility to quickly adapt
to changes in the travel industry and to our internal technology changes, address
budgetary concerns, and handle emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
