The Mountainland Region Youth Advisory Council is made up of high school youth advisory members from each of the 29 high schools, charter schools, and alternative high schools in the Summit, Utah, and Wasatch Counties of Utah. The council is guided by a team of adult advisors tasked with supporting the youth advisory council in their work. Additionally, a region wide governing board made up of UVU and MTECH professionals has been established to provide the MYAC with guidance of topics and region concerns for their commission.

TIME COMMITMENT*

  • The youth advisory council will hold three to four meetings during the academic school year.
    • Meeting times to occur after school hours or on Saturdays, as to be determined.
    • Meetings will be in person and held at a UVU or MTECH campus. Specific campus location to be announced.
  • Additional activities as determined.

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY

  • GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Current high school students who lives in one of the following school districts or charter schools in the Mountainland Region of Utah: Alpine, Nebo, North Summit, Park City, Provo, South Summit, Wasatch, ALA, Merit, Summit, Rockwell, or UCAS.
  • Able to commit to identified meetings for youth advisory council. (All meetings will take place outside regular school hours at the UVU-Lehi campus or MTECH-Lehi Campus in Lehi, UT.)
  • Application does request completion of the following: basic applicant information, short answer questions, students time commitment signature, and parent signature for commitment and media release.

APPLICATION PROCESS

All youth advisory council applications are submitted through an online application portal.

  • Applications are made available to current region high school students, who will be between the ages of 15 to 19 during the year applied to, by April 1st of each academic year.
  • Application review begins the first week of June and is completed by the youth advisory council committee members.
  • Notices of acceptance to representative position are sent out upon completion of applicant review process by the start of the new school year.
