High school students

The Mountainland Region Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) is a dynamic platform that brings together high school students from Summit, Utah, and Wasatch counties. Our mission is to empower and amplify the voices of young individuals by providing them with a space to engage, advise, and share their perspectives on post-secondary education and attainment.

Key Objectives

  • Youth Advocacy: MYAC serves as a bridge between the youth and local decision-makers. We advocate for policies and initiatives that enhance educational opportunities beyond high school.
  • Community Engagement: Through collaborative efforts, we actively participate in community events, workshops, and outreach programs. Our goal is to foster a sense of civic responsibility and encourage active involvement among our peers.
  • Student Perspectives: MYAC members represent diverse backgrounds, experiences, and aspi-rations. We believe that every student’s voice matters, and we strive to create an inclusive en-vironment where ideas are valued.
  • Partnership with Institutions: MYAC is a joint effort between Utah Valley University (UVU) and Mountainland Technical College (MTECH). By collaborating with these institutions, we bridge the gap between secondary and post-secondary education.

Our Commitment

  • Empowerment: We empower students to take charge of their educational journey, explore ca-reer pathways, and make informed decisions about their future.
  • Advocacy: MYAC actively engages with policymakers, educators, and community leaders to advocate for policies that promote access, equity, and success in higher education.
  • Inclusivity: We celebrate diversity and recognize that each student’s perspective contributes to a richer dialogue. MYAC is a safe space where everyone’s voice is heard.

Join us in shaping the educational landscape of our region! Together, we can create a brighter future for all.
