Mentoring opportunities are particularly valuable for first-generation students who are navigating college life without any previous familial knowledge or support in how to best succeed and utilize the resources available to them. This is why the First-Gen Student Success Center provides thorough and accessible mentoring for our students.
Several of our mentoring programs offer scholarships for participants.
Our first-generation mentor program pairs students with successful professionals in a variety of fields each semester. The First-Gen Executive Mentorship Scholarship promises exceptional mentorship from the First-Gen Advancement Board.
Executive mentoring students will receive a half in-state tuition award.
FAFSA is NOT required for the Executive Mentoring program.
First Steps Mentoring is a campus-based mentorship program meant for first-gen students who are just beginning their college experience. Students are connected to UVU faculty and staff mentors and receive personalized support, guidance, and connection with peer mentors.
A $500 scholarship is awarded after completing a semester.
FAFSA is NOT required for the First Steps Mentoring program.
The First-Generation Peer Mentoring program is an in-center resource that connects first-gen students with student mentors that familiar with the difficulties first-gen students face. Our peer mentors are ready to help students with class organization, understanding Wolverine Track, checking financial aid, college tips and tricks, and more.
Visit LA 114 or make an appointment to meet our peer mentors. They are available for scheduled appointments as well as walk-in appointments.
