OVERVIEW

WELCOME to Faculty Relations. Under the umbrella of Academic Affairs, Faculty Relations is available to assist and guide all faculty members in a variety of issues related to conflict resolution.

OUR SERVICES

We specialize in preventing and resolving conflict.

  • Conflict Prevention

    • Faculty Relations offers conflict-prevention services to help participants develop skills that prevent conflicts before they occur.
  • Conflict Resolution

    • Faculty Relations also provides informal conflict resolution services to faculty members in place of, or in addition to, formal processes and procedures while a conflict is ongoing.

We achieve this through mediation.

  • Consultations

    • Faculty Relations is eager to assist faculty members dealing with conflicts. If you are stuck in a dispute and could use some help, please feel free to reach out for assistance in identifying options. Our staff is trained in mediation and conflict resolution, and we are happy to assist in whatever way we can.
  • Mediation & Facilitated Discussions

    • A neutral third party can facilitate mediation and discussion between you and a fellow faculty member or supervisor. This can help you resolve any conflicts or disputes, although you and the other person are solely responsible for reaching an agreement. If you have any questions about your situation, please feel free to contact our office.

We have three guiding principles.

  • Confidential

    • Conversations with and services provided by Faculty Relations will be kept confidential unless disclosure is required by applicable law or UVU policy. Regardless, clients will always be notified prior to any required disclosure.
  • Informal

    • Services will be conducted informally. Our conflict resolution is meant to supplement but not replace the University’s existing resources for formal conflict resolution.
  • Impartial

    • A mediator or facilitator is a neutral person. They will remain impartial, meaning they will not take sides or deliver any disciplinary action to either party.
