FERPA

We know what an important partner parents can be in a student's success. We look forward to working with you to help your student have a good experience in college. Parents need to be aware that due to FERPA privacy laws, we cannot give information about a student's account to anyone except the student, unless they have given their express written consent. Even if the student is under the age of 18 and/or you're paying the bill, written consent is required. Students who wish to allow their parents or other individuals to have access to their student education records information can give consent by adding those individuals as delegates on their account using the Student Information Release Authorization tool.

To find the form in myUVU, students should:

  • Log in with their UV ID and password
  • Locate the Information Release (MySIRA) below the student's name
  • Click on Manage your Information

Tuition Payment Plus Access for Parents

Students can give others (parents, employers, etc.) the ability to access their account information and make payments on their behalf. In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), student financial records may not be shared with a third party without the student's written consent. Adding an authorized user is the student's written consent that the authorized individual may view his/her account information and make payments on his/her behalf. Please note that adding someone as an Authorized User does not take the place of the Student Release Authorization form. Authorized users DO NOT have access to the student's stored payment methods, academic records, or other personal information. 

Authorized users can log into tuition payment plus using their email and the password they were sent when initially added as a user.
