Application Process

Before making any decisions regarding WE course certification, please read through the Requirements and Recommendations pages. Then complete the following steps:

 

  1. Add a statement in the WE course syllabus indicating to students explaining the approach to writing taken in the course and indicating that this course meets one of their WE graduation requirements. A short statement would be sufficient.
  2. Make any additional changes to the course syllabus, curriculum, and assignments to reflect WE status and meet WE requirements.
  3. Open the Application Tips and read through that document carefully.
  4. Fill out the Writing Enriched Course Certification Application.
  5. Complete the course change requirements on the Course Leaf site, making sure you add "WE" to the end of your class title, check the WE designation box, and add the Writing-based Learning Outcome you use in the application.
  6. Attach all application materials (stated at the bottom of the application document) to the Course Leaf submission.

 

The Writing Enriched Committee will review the application and inform the lead instructor whether the course has passed WE Committee Review or whether changes need to be made. The Committee will provide a detailed response regarding necessary changes.
