Graduate Financial Resources

FEDERAL GRADUATE PLUS LOANS

Financial aid is available from the federal government to students who qualify.

  1. Complete the FAFSA form at GOV.
  2. To be eligible, a graduate student must:
    • Be admitted into a graduate degree-seeking program.
    • Be registered at least half-time (4.5 credits).
    • For the 2020-2021 academic year: File a 2020-2021 FAFSA.
    • Not be in default on any federal student loans.
    • Not be in overpayment of any type of federal aid.
    • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  3. Complete the Graduate PLUS Loan Application.
  4. E-sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN).
  5. You must complete Entrance Counseling.
  6. Outstanding student loans may be deferred while you are in school.

Students may apply for this funding online at www.fafsa.gov after they have completed taxes for the year prior to when they will start their program. For example, a student starting the program in Fall 2019 would complete the FAFSA with information from their 2018 tax return. Western Regional Graduate Program

This program grants resident tuition rates to individuals who meet the following four conditions:

  • Be enrolled in the MFPA program
  • Be a legal resident of one of the following states or territories: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wyoming, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam
  • Have (and maintain) a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Provide a copy of a valid driver's license from the state of residency

MFPA Resident scholarship

This scholarship covers tuition for fall and spring semesters only. In order to be eligible to apply for this scholarship, students

Must have a 3.5 GPA 
Must be accepted into the MFPA program 
Must be a full-time student
Required to write an essay
Must reapply annually for this scholarship (General and MFPA applications)

*Students will have other requirements once an offer and acceptance has been received for the resident scholarship

NOn-Resident Scholarships

(Out of State)

The MFPA program has a limited number of out of state tuition waivers. If you are interested in an out-of-state tuition waiver, you will need to first contact the admission office regarding residency.  Waivers are given based on merit.
