The VITA Tax program is currently closed.
The UVU Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a program provided by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The VITA program offers free tax help to people who generally make total income of $60,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. All volunteers and certified by the IRS to provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. If you are a non-US resident needing tax assistance, please see the information below.
APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL TAXPAYERS AS WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCOMODATE WALK-IN APPOINTMENTS.
The UVU VITA lab is generally open five days a week, starting as early as 10 a.m. and typically running through the afternoon. This year we are adding evening appointments and will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday evening until 7 p.m. Please check our scheduling tool for our available appointments. Please read the FAQs carefully to make sure you bring the required paperwork to your appointment.
Please visit our Frequently Asked Questions Page so you are prepared for your appointment and we can serve you better. If you do not have the required documents, we will not be able to complete your return at your appointment.
Students interested in volunteering can email [email protected]
NON-US RESIDENTS
The volunteers at the IRS VITA site at UVU are only certified to prepare tax returns for U.S. resident taxpayers that are required to file a Form 1040 (U.S. Individual Income Tax Return). If you are required to file a Form 1040-NR (U.S. Nonresident Alien Income Tax Return) we are not certified to prepare this type of return. For tax assistance, you should contact BYU International Student Services using the contact information below.
