Vice President of Connection

The Vice President of Connection pushes connection and belonging to the student body at large through oversight of recruitment, student recognition, and educating students about involvement opportunities. In addition, they oversee the day-to-day operations of the UVUSA Student Council.

• Chairs the Connection Branch meetings, establishes and attends related committees, and acts upon responsibilities delegated to that office by the Student Body President.
• Develops ways to improve the sense of community among students on campus.
• Plans and coordinates recognition programs for students at large.
• Finds ways to educate students about involvement opportunities across campus and connect them to those opportunities.

The VP of Connection receives a full-tuition scholarship and hourly pay as a part-time employee of the university.

Assistant to the Vice President of Connection

• Provides administrative support to the Vice President of Connection and fulfills duties as assigned.
• Plans and participates in volunteer recognition and morale initiatives.
• Works with the Executive Assistant to report historical information for UVUSA records and documentation as assigned.
• Keeps an updated list on involvement opportunities available across campus

The Assistant to the VP of Connection receives a half-tuition scholarship.

Belonging and Connection Co-Chairs

The Belonging and Connection Co-Chairs play a pivotal role in fostering a sense of belonging and connection among students within the university community. They lead initiatives and collaborate with various stakeholders to create an environment where all individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.

• Develop and implement strategic plans to promote a culture of belonging and connection across campus.
• Organize a student Campus Connection Committee and facilitate regularly held meetings focused on coordinating efforts to implement student driven initiatives that build a sense of belonging and connection to UVU and its surrounding community.
• Continue and/or develop opportunities for the general student body to participate in both educational and social programming promoting belonging and connection.
• Actively pursue the voice and opinion of students from underrepresented populations, including but not limited to multicultural or international students, to promote effective and accurate representation.
• Serve as a liaison between diverse campus constituencies, effectively communicating initiatives, resources, and opportunities for engagement.

The Belonging and Connection Co-Chairs receive full-tuition scholarships.

Civic Engagement Chair

The Civic Engagement Chair is responsible for encouraging and executing events and initiatives to help students become more involved in their community and more aware of issues that concern them.

• Provides regular legislative updates.
• Coordinates lobbying efforts on a state and national level as directed by the Executive Council of UVUSA. Directs voter registration campaigns for student body.
• Serves as Parliamentarian in Student Council meetings.
• Creates and oversees a judicial council to define and interpret UVUSA constitutional issues when needed.
• Plans and implements efforts to get students more involved in elections for UVUSA, community, state, and national leaders.
• Implements events and initiatives to notify students about the issues that relate to them at UVU as well as in the community, state, and national levels.

The Civic Engagement Chair receives a full-tuition scholarship.
