On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, the members of Utah Valley University’s (UVU) Rotaract Club had the honor of being invited to the weekly meeting of the Orem-London Rotary Club, held at the welcoming Outback Steakhouse. This event was far more than just a breakfast, it embodied the spirit of friendship, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing, which lie at the heart of our Rotarian values.
A Meeting Focused on Collaboration and Recognition
Mike Rich, President, Orem-Lindon Rotary Club, opens the event
The meeting began with a review of recent community contributions of Orem-lindon Rotary Club, offering the members an opportunity to receive constructive feedback on our efforts and to plan new projects for the future. But it also opened the possibility for the Rotaractors to discuss with their peers the importance of interclub cooperation and effectively address the needs of our local communities.
An Inspirational Presentation: Carter Darger’s Oxford Journey
Carter Darger Reports about His Summer 2024 Study Abroad Trip To Oxford University, Great Britain
The highlight of the gathering was a captivating presentation by Carter Darger, the former president of UVU’s Rotaract Club. Now a law student at Oxford University, Carter passionately shared his three-month experience at this prestigious institution. Through a well-structured PowerPoint presentation, he took us on a journey into the academic and cultural life at Oxford. His story not only shed light on the challenges and rewards of studying abroad but also inspired the audience to strive for excellence in every aspect of life. Carter expressed his appreciation to Rotarians for providing him a scholarship for this trip.
An Emotional Passing of the Torch
As the incoming president of UVU’s Rotaract Club, I had the opportunity to honor Carter for his remarkable leadership and lasting impact on our organization. His acceptance into Oxford is a testament to his hard work and vision, and although he leaves to pursue his dreams, his legacy continues to inspire each of us.
