Utah Valley University (UVU) is excited to host Tony Medina on February 6th, 2024. Tony was the president of the Utah International Mountain Forum, a coalition of student clubs at UVU from 2015 to 2016. He was involved with major efforts of the student clubs coalition to advocate through the inclusive student-engaged learning model for the sustainable mountain development in the State of Utah and at the UN, including hosting the fourth International Women of the Mountains Conference at UVU in October 2015. Student-engaged learning encourages traditional and non-traditional students work as a group on resolving real-world problems with faculty mentoring them. Non-traditional students are older than 25 and balance their education with work and family responsibilities. Tony Medina was one of non-traditional students, who contributed to the successful implementation of the model. The student clubs coalition was praised for hosting the conference in the United Nations Secretary General's report A/71/256 from July 29, 2016. Tony Medina now works for the State Department Diplomatic Security Service.

Tony will present on a variety of topics focused on how a Political Science degree helped him to be successful with his career at the State Department. He will answer questions about his career and education at Utah Valley University. He will also share his thoughts how for student clubs coalition members to advocate for mountain women during CSW68. Once again, we invite all who are interested, regardless of your major, to join us at Utah Valley University, CB 501, on February 6th, 2024 at 12:30pm.
