Rebecca Dalgleish has been playing the violin since she was three years old and has loved every second
of it. She began learning how to play the violin by studying with Kathrine Kunz in
Salt Lake City. By the age of twelve, Rebecca had began studying with the University of Utah’s Violin Professor, Hasse Borup. Her
love and passion for music carried and led her to decide to pursue music at the collegiate
level.
Rebecca now is a senior at Utah Valley University on Scholarship as a music education and
violin performance major. She is currently the concert master for both Symphony and
Chamber Orchestra. During her college years, she has studied violin privately with
Dr. Donna Fairbanks and Dr. Kasia Sokol-Borup. Following her undergrad degree, Rebecca plans on continuing her education by attending graduate school.
Rebecca also enjoys teaching her own music students. She has been teaching since she was fourteen and now has a music studio of over 50 students. Although violin is her main instrument, she also plays/ teaches piano and viola.
Besides music, Rebecca also enjoys being outdoors, pickleball, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
Josh Hooker grew up in the small town of Heber City, Utah. He is a current student at Utah Valley University majoring in Vocal Performance. It wasn't until recently that he decided to pursue opera as a career, and switched from his education degree to performance. His roles include: Hoffman from Offenbach's Tales of Hoffman, Edgardo and Arturo from Donizetti's Lucia Di Lammermoor, Frederic from Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance, Parpignol from Puccini's La Boheme, and Dr. Blind from Strauss's Die Fledermaus. When Josh isn't performing, you'll find him running his family's river rafting company, managing a snowmobile tour company, in a whitewater kayak, on a snowmobile, or on a horseback ride with his wife and baby.
Sydney Pexton is a soprano from Sandy, Utah. She has performed in various operas and scenes concerts with Utah Valley University including Die Fledermaus, Lucia di Lammermoor, and the premiere of Nicolas Giusti’s L’importanza di essere Onesto. In Utah Valley University’s production of La Bohème she was able to work closely with renowned professionals such as Marina Costa Jackson and Maestro Nicolas Giusti. She most recently sang Adele in the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar’s production of Die Fledermaus and Antonia in Utah Valley University’s production of Les Contes d’Hoffmann.
Sydney will be graduating from Utah Valley University this spring with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. She will be pursuing a master's degree in Vocal Performance this fall.
Preston Schollenberger has been performing with the Utah Valley University Wind Symphony for two years. He enjoys performing contemporary pieces on all percussion instruments, especially marimba.
Preston has been recognized by the Percussive Arts Society with a first place award in the category of mallet/keyboard solo and has performed with the Virtual Drum and Bugle Corps, and SO Percussion.
Preston is currently the principal percussionist for the UVU Wind Symphony and frequently performs using a variety of mallets he manufactures himself.

Utah Valley University acknowledges that we gather on land sacred to all Indigenous people who came before us in this vast crossroads region. The University is committed to working in partnership—as enacted through education and community activities—with Utah’s Native Nations comprising: the San Juan Southern Paiute, Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, Uintah & Ouray Reservation of the Northern Ute, Skull Valley Goshute, Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Reservation, Northwestern Band of Shoshone Nation, Hopi Tribe, Navajo Nation, Ute Mountain Ute-White Mesa Community, and urban Indian communities. We recognize these Native Nations and their continued connections with traditional homelands, mountains, rivers, and lakes as well as their sovereign relationships with state and federal governments. We honor their collective memory and continued physical and spiritual presence. We revere their resilience and example in preserving their connections to the Creator and to all their relations, now and in the future.
With this statement comes responsibility and accountability. We resolve to follow
up with actionable items to make the School of the Arts at UVU and The Noorda Center
for the Performing Arts an inclusive, equitable, and just space for all. There is
much work to be done, and we are committed to putting these words into practice.
