Letter from the Graduating Class of 2022
Welcome to Utah Valley University's Senior Capstone performance, Daydreams. This performance is a culmination of years of practice and dedication to our craft. Each senior has had the opportunity to use the tools they have learned at UVU to create creative or performative works. As each dancer is building off their own life experiences and movement histories, this concert features a wide range of diversity. Celebrate with us as Daydreams marks the grand finale of our undergraduate lives and the beginning of a new chapter.
As the world continues to recover from and embrace the new challenges of today, we are shifting our lens on life. We have been able to use our creative works to find an outlet from past experiences and to explore our hopes for a brighter future. As all the dancers shared the inspiration for their choreography, we discovered a continual theme of hope. This made the concept of Daydreams to be the most fitting. A daydream is considered a pleasant thought that distracts someone’s attention from the present. We invite you to suspend your disbelief and allow this concert to be a daydream to you.
We are so grateful for your support of the arts. It means the world to us that you have come to see and support what has been a long time dream of ours. Tonight would not have been possible without the support from our families, faculty, production team, and most importantly, our audiences. We invite you to open your eyes and mind to a new world of possibilities and daydream together through a nourishing experience of dance.

Utah Valley University acknowledges that we gather on land sacred to all Indigenous people who came before us in this vast crossroads region. The University is committed to working in partnership—as enacted through education and community activities—with Utah’s Native Nations comprising: the San Juan Southern Paiute, Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, Uintah & Ouray Reservation of the Northern Ute, Skull Valley Goshute, Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Reservation, Northwestern Band of Shoshone Nation, Hopi Tribe, Navajo Nation, Ute Mountain Ute-White Mesa Community, and urban Indian communities. We recognize these Native Nations and their continued connections with traditional homelands, mountains, rivers, and lakes as well as their sovereign relationships with state and federal governments. We honor their collective memory and continued physical and spiritual presence. We revere their resilience and example in preserving their connections to the Creator and to all their relations, now and in the future.
With this statement comes responsibility and accountability. We resolve to follow up with actionable items to make the School of the Arts at UVU and The Noorda Center for the Performing Arts an inclusive, equitable, and just space for all. There is much work to be done, and we are committed to putting these words into practice.
