Who does this apply to? Faculty and staff

What is being added in this policy? Approved June 21, 2024, Policy 113 provides guidelines for the highest levels of university awards (University Awards of Excellence); however, it does not address other university-level awards (Provost, Faculty Senate, PACE, Deans, Divisional). The executive summary for Policy 113 specified that People and Culture will create another policy that will develop a “comprehensive and distinctive awards program that also reflects the university culture and values” and “will help clarify ownership and oversight.” Policy 117 is this policy.

Now that this policy draft is in Stage 1, what does this mean for me? If you have comments or concerns, contact your senator. Stage 2 ends November 14.

Policy Stewards John Curl
Policy Actions Revision—Limited Scope

Who does this apply to? Not applicable—the revisions involve updates to names of groups

What are the revisions to the policy? Part of this policy explains the role and structure of the University Scholarship Committee (USC). When the policy was first implemented, the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management chaired this committee. It is now chaired by the Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Therefore, that section of the policy needs to be updated, along with the name of student government, and the deletion of “Student Success and Retention,” a unit that no longer exists.

Now that this policy draft is in the process, what does this mean for me? If you have comments or concerns, contact your senator. Stage 2 ends November 14.

Information Item

Policy 421 Property and Equipment,  which has been on hold in Stage 2 for over a year, will now be owned Finance and Auxiliary Services. They will return the draft to Stage 1 and rework it.
