Curtis has worked as the Senior Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs at Utah Valley University for the past 17 years where he administers pre- and post-award grant and contract services for the University. He has extensive experience as a peer reviewer for federal grants working for different departments of government. Curtis Pendleton holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, is nationally certified as a Grant Professional Certified (GPC), and holds several other certifications in grant administration. He has more than 28 years of experience as a grant writer, fund raiser, and grant administrator, and has raised more than $200,000,000 from federal, state, corporate and private foundations. He also has considerable experience working with leaders of industry, government, non-profit, and community organizations at the local, national, and international level to raise funding for a wide variety of programs, services, activities, and facilities.

The Administrative Support III position assists the UVU community in accessing the resources and services of OSP and in assisting OSP staff in the performance of their duties. This individual manages an extensive database of grant proposals and awards, and provides financial management to the office.

The Director of Grant Development fosters grant-writing training activities among UVU faculty and staff by conducting grant searching and writing workshops, providing targeted and individualized training, hosting guest lectures on related topics, and developing on-line training materials. He helps faculty transition from receiving internal grant funding to obtaining external resources. Ethan coaches and assists with proposal development and provides proposal editing assistance (when given sufficient advanced notice). He orchestrates an annual faculty visit to grant program officers in Washington, D.C. and oversees a peer mentoring and proposal review service. Ethan is the OSP primary point of contact for novice grant writers who are seeking funding for new projects and programs.

Assists the Sr. Director of Sponsored Programs in planning and implementing comprehensive sponsored program development that increases funding to UVU from government and private sources. Trains faculty, staff, and administration in the laws and policies that govern sponsored programs. Provides oversight of all aspects of sponsored program proposal preparation and submission. The director works collaboratively with Institutional Advancement to coordinate and manage sponsored program proposals funded by private and corporate foundations and societies. The director provides training and direction to proposal developers to ensure accuracy of financial materials in sponsored program proposals. The director is responsible for review and negotiation of pre-award contracts for sponsored projects. The director acts as an electronic administrator for sponsored programs within the campus community and facilitates the electronic submission of sponsored project proposals and works with faculty and staff to ensure accuracy and timely submission of sponsored project proposals.

An independent, off-campus grant writer who facilitates proposal preparation and submission for major federal grants and other grants as assigned. She has worked with the Office of Sponsored Programs for over 20 years and helped prepare proposals in all colleges and many disciplines and programs. The Director of Post Award Services negotiates and facilitates the acceptance of government grants and contracts on behalf of the University. Alex provides training, mentoring, and assistance to new grant awardees and provides individualized in-service training to project investigators and program administrators of grants and contracts. She assists with budget revisions, review of progress reports, management of sub awards and contracts, and grant closeout activities. She serves as a liaison between the institution and the sponsor when necessary, and is the OSP point of contact for all questions and matters related to post-award grants and contracts.

The Post-Award Accountant provides financial compliance support to grant recipients once the grant has been awarded. She oversees time and effort reporting activities, monitors personnel and acquisition expenditures of grants, and performs ongoing compliance reviews of grant-related expenditures to ensure grant funding is used in compliance with institutional, private, and government entity regulations.

She provides accounting support to the CTE Director, manages business and financial affairs, establishes best practices and maintains compliance with federal and state rules and regulations for Perkins funding. Also, Patricia assists with outreach efforts in CTE programs among special populations, non-traditional students and students in non-traditional CTE fields.
