Alumni, Community, & Guest Checkout Privileges at Fulton Library

Four UVU students laugh together while at a table in the Fulton Library.Calling all UVU alumni, community members, and guests—did you know you can use the Fulton Library’s extensive catalog, study spaces, and online resources? Guests can create a free library account to access a wealth of resources, like books, videos, databases, and more.

Individuals eligible for a Fulton Library guest account include:

  • UVU alumni
  • Community patrons (18+ years old)
  • Students and faculty at Brigham Young University, Utah Tech University, Salt Lake Community College, Snow College, University of Utah, Weber State University, and Westminster College, which are part of the Utah Academic Library Consortium (UALC).

Creating a guest account is simple: visit the first-floor Circulation Desk, and a library aide will walk you through the process. If you’re a community patron or UVU alumni, you’ll need to provide your physical address, phone number, email address, and government-issued ID. Patrons from a UALC college or university will be asked to provide a valid institutional ID. Keep in mind that library accounts expire annually, so you’ll need to renew your account at the Circulation Desk each year.

CHECKOUT PERIODS & PRIVILEGES

Fulton Library guests have full checkout privileges, meaning you can check out books, ebooks, videos, and more. Guests can check out up to five videos and 10 books, CDs, or maps, all with four-week checkout periods. If there aren’t holds on the items, you can renew them up to two times.

Equipment and textbooks are reserved for student, faculty, and staff use; guests cannot check them out.

COMPUTER LABS & PRINTING

Need a computer? Guests can visit the library’s computer labs (located on floors 1–5) to use a Mac or PC. Sign on to a computer with a guest login to use Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other software.

Printers are also available on every floor of the library. Printing on campus is made simple with color, black and white, and wireless options. Black and white printing costs 5¢ per page, and color printing costs 20¢ per page.

For assistance logging in to a computer, connecting to Wi-Fi, or printing, visit the first-floor Tech Help Desk or contact UVU Student Computing at 801-863-8888.

ONLINE DATABASES & VIDEO STREAMING

With access to more than 280 research databases while on campus, Fulton Library guests can find articles and other sources that are perfect for their projects. If you have a specific research objective, you can filter the databases by subject. Not sure where to start? No matter your topic, OneSearch, Academic Search Ultimate, and JSTOR are great starting points.

Guest patrons can also get their video streaming fix at the Fulton Library. We offer a wide range of films, including Sundance and Oscar-nominated films and popular movies. Keep in mind that guest patrons must be on campus to access online databases and video streaming.

FAMILY STUDY SUITE & STUDY SPACES

When visiting the library, be sure to check out our cozy study spots, like the first-floor café area, individual study pods, and family study suite. The newly remodeled family study suite is designed to meet the unique needs of parents, featuring a family restroom, changing station, lactation room, and play area. These study spaces don’t require reservations, so they’re open to all library visitors.
