Earning an AAS degree in Wildland Fire Management provides students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to assist them in obtaining a job in Wildland Firefighting, or if already employed, gives them the knowledge, skills, and abilities to advance in their careers.

Wildland Degree and Academics 

Courses focus on tactical decisions in firefighting and teaches students wildland fire behavior as well as how to anticipate fire behavior. Complete general education requirements and 18 credits from the courses listed in the catalog.

If you have already taken some NWCG courses,  you may be eligible for prior learning credit. An original NWCG course certificate provided to your Academic Advisor will be required to purchase credit hours for courses already completed. 

These courses will be given throughout the fall and spring semesters. Students may attend them in conjunction with our regularly scheduled upper division NWCG courses.

Wildland Firefighting Internship

Students who complete UVU wildland fire classes, can apply for a paid summer internship with our partner Utah Forestry Fire & State Lands.
