Did you know one of the best ways to cope with emotions during a disaster is to get
involved? On September 4th, 2010 Christchurch city in the region of Canterbury, New
Zealand experienced a magnitude 7.1 earthquake. Then again in on February 11, 2011
the city experienced a magnitude 6.3 quake. Thousands of aftershocks followed. Much
of Christchurch was destroyed and many of it's residents displaced. Today Christchurch
is still recovering from this natural disaster. However, the city is also thriving
and growing. Many innovations and concepts have been developed and come out of New
Zealand that have influenced the world and how we prepare, respond, and recover from
