This award is given to adjunct educators who have demonstrated through their work in the classroom a dedication to student success at UVU. Their work was reviewed by peers in their school or college and found to be of an exceptional degree that an award should be given as recognition for their work.

Award recipients show ongoing service to the profession, college, university, or community (or in rare cases, a single exceptional service assignment or accomplishment) with contributions emphasizing the following: substantial positive impact; a pattern of service during the preceding calendar year (January to December), service activities, and/or major service contributions; and/or community service that is an extension of the faculty member’s academic expertise.

Award recipients demonstrate scholarship through a variety of activities such as: the publication of peer-reviewed journal articles, scholarly books or textbooks, book chapters, conference proceeding papers, or monographs; scholarly presentations at major peer-reviewed conferences or professional meetings; contributions such as peer-reviewed journal editor or reviewer of journal articles, books, or grant proposals; the receipt of grants or research funding involving competition and/or peer review; technology-based or creative projects related to the faculty member’s discipline; an extended record of direct mentoring of students in undergraduate research projects that result in publications and/or presentations; and/or data collection, research and analysis that result directly in significant institutional, college or department changes that promote student success.

Award recipients are full-time staff who demonstrate excellence and commitment to a program, department, the School of Education, or UVU by consistently demonstrating excellence in the performance of duties; creating or establishing efficiencies within programs and/or processes; demonstrating excellent customer service and support to the students, faculty, staff, and/or administration.

Award recipients demonstrate effective mentoring strategies that support the professional growth of student teachers; exhibit high standards of teaching practice, including innovative methods and effective classroom management; maintain a professional demeanor and foster a positive learning environment; show evidence of a positive impact on student teachers’ development and student learning outcomes; demonstrate a commitment to the teaching profession and the development of future educators; and exhibit exemplary teaching practices and a positive impact on student learning.

They uphold high standards of professional and ethical practice, equipping mentees with tools to integrate innovative methods and skills. They maintain professionalism, foster a positive and respectful environment, and provide guidance that enhances graduate students' professional development. Additionally, they exhibit a strong commitment to education and the advancement of future educators.

Award recipients are students graduating with an bachelor degree who have a 4.0 GPA (or the highest GPA in the program), are active in/contribute to their department, and graduate/attend graduation in the spring of the year the award is given.
