Acceptance to the Program

Applicants are accepted into the Teacher Education Program for Fall and Spring semesters after meeting entrance requirements. An official acceptance notification will be sent by mail approximately two weeks following the application deadline.

Upon acceptance, students must attend an education orientation to be approved for registration. Orientation dates, times, and locations are included in the acceptance letter. Students are responsible for checking their school-issued email for official updates and correspondence. Student contact information must be current and updated through both the university and the School of Education advising office.

Steps to Apply

Step #1: Complete a Utah Valley University (UVU) Application

If you are not already a current or past student, apply to Utah Valley University.
When you are admitted to UVU, return to this page and continue through the steps.

Step #2: Read through the following

I. Requirements for Admission Consideration
  • GPA 3.0
  • ENGL 2010 C grade or higher
  • MATH 1050 or 2000 C grade or higher
  • A.S. Degree in Pre-Elementary Ed or equivalent which consists of all General Education, Pre-Program, and Elective Courses competed with qualifying grades (or will be completed by program start)
  • Student Conduct: Must be in good standing with the university
II. Transcripts
  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities previously attended (except UVU) must be submitted to the following address:

III. Background Check
  • LiveScan Fingerprint Receipt Form MUST be stamped by LiveScan technician. You will enter the date your fingerprints were taken on your application. Form, procedures and LiveScan sites available at this link or in ME 114.
IV. Acceptance to the Teacher Education Program at UVU
  • Acceptance notifications will be sent via email approximately two weeks after the application deadline.
  • After acceptance, students must attend an education orientation to be approved for registration. Dates and times for this orientation will be included in your acceptance letter.
  • After acceptance into the program, students are responsible for checking their school-issued email for official updates and correspondence. Contact information must be current and up to date in both the university and the SOE advising office.
