Below is a list of scholarships funded by outside agencies and individuals that are
available to students in the College of Science. To apply for any of these scholarships, please complete the application at https://www.uvu.edu/financialaid/scholarships/ by February 1. Your application will automatically be considered for any of the scholarships for
which you are eligible.
College of Science Private Scholarship Information
- Clyde Davis Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund #5427
- Student in the College of Science.
- The Kimball T. Harper Endowed Botany Fund #5687
- Students majoring in botany in their junior or senior year.
- Candidates must be a full-time UVU student with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Students must have recommendations from at least two UVU faculty members. Also, they
must submit an essay describing their interest in botany and their

- The recipient must be enrolled as a major in the College of Science.

- Sam Rushforth Endowed Scholarship #5524
- The annual scholarship will be awarded to a full-time UVU student enrolled in the
College of Science.
- The recipient must demonstrate leadership as an outstanding student who shows promise
and talent in the sciences.
- Rudolph P. and Edna Reese Family Endowed Scholarship Fund #5539
- Recipients must be enrolled in the UVU Department of Mathematics and pursuing a degree
in math education.
- Recipients must be attending UVU full time and currently in good academic standing.
- Preference will be given to junior or senior students completing their required student
teaching; others with financial needs may also qualify. FAFSA must include – Yes.
- Robert K. and Anne S. Peper Endowed Scholarship Fund #5674
- Scholarship recipients must be full-time (12 credit hours) students enrolled at UVU
in the College of Science. (If at such time UVU offers a degree in the area of geology,
it will be given priority consideration for awarding.)
- Recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Student(s) shall be needy and deserving students selected by the authorities of the

- Awarded to students in the College of Science majoring in botany or chemistry.
- John Keith and Lillian Y. Hayes Endowed Scholarship #5980
- The recipient must be enrolled in the College of Science, majoring in earth science
with an emphasis in the study of geology.
- The recipient must be a full-time (12 credit hours) student and maintain a minimum
3.0 GPA.
- Financial need will be given first consideration; FAFSA must include – Yes.
- Lerue W. Winget Memorial Math and Sciences Scholarship #5837
- Program/major must include biology AS, biology BS, biotechnology BS, chemistry BS,
computer engineering BS, computer science AS, computer science BS, mathematics AS,
mathematics BS, or physics.
- GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0.
- An essay demonstrating a commitment to your education/profession must be present.

- Richard G. Scott Science Scholarship #5531
- Program/major in chemistry education BS, chemistry BS, mathematics education BS, mathematics
AS, mathematics BS, exercise science BS, or physics.
- US citizen who attended all of high school in Utah.
- Junior or senior.
- GPA greater than or equal to 3.0.
- Essay must include how you have served the community while in high school or college
and what achievements you have made in the field of science.

- Recipients must be full-time (12 credit hours) students enrolled at UVU majoring in
the College of Science.
- Recipients must be in good academic standing with a GPA greater than or equal to 3.0.
- Noyce Scholarship
- · Students must be enrolled as a biology, earth science, or mathematics education
major in good standing at UVU.
- Students must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
- Students must be admitted to the UVU School of Education Licensure Program.
- Students must have recommendations from at least one UVU faculty member from the department
the scholarship is for.
- Students must teach for two years in secondary schools in a high-needs school district
for each year the scholarship is awarded. If this requirement is unmet, the scholarship
becomes a loan and must be repaid immediately to UVU.
- Students must sign a promissory note in the UVU Collections Department before scholarship
funds can be awarded.
- Biology S-STEM Scholarship
- Scholarship recipients will receive full tuition for the remainder of their degree,
up to 6 semesters.
- They will also receive an allowance for books and supplies and up to $2,000 each year
to cover research equipment and travel to present research.
- Scholars will work closely with faculty research mentors until they graduate and will
immerse themselves in the process of science.
- Regular meetings, reading clubs, and networking events will aid in retention and scholastic
achievement.
