Rationale

Annual evaluations enable the department chair and dean to ensure faculty members are maintaining high standards of teaching, scholarship, and service. It provides an opportunity to identify potential issues and make improvements.

Metric

Faculty meet or exceed expectations in all three areas. Faculty members who do not meet expectations are provided with an improvement plan and resources to help them improve.

Result

All faculty members in the Mathematical and Quantitative Reasoning Department met or exceeded expectations during the annual review period.

Effort to Improve

Rationale

The Mathematical and Quantitative Reasoning Department is a teaching focused department that emphasizes continued growth as faculty.

Metric

The average number of activities engaged in by the faculty for the department will be three activities per academic year.

Result

Previous metric only measured the percentage of faculty members that participated in at least one activity in the academic year. This was at 100%. Moving forward, this metric will be changed as outlined in the Metric section (see to the left).

Adjunct Faculty Support

Rationale

Adjunct faculty are a critical part of the department. Providing them support for excellent teaching helps ensure that MQR students have a positive experience whether their instructor is full-time or part-time.

Metric

65% of adjunct faculty participate in trainings or department meetings. 100% of adjunct faculty are observed.

Result

86% (18/21) of adjunct faculty participated in trainings or department meetings. 100% of adjunct faculty received at least one observation during the academic year.
