unlock your benefits (FT staff)
The 2022-2023 Benefits Open Enrollment begins Monday, April 18, 2022, and will continue through Friday, May 6, 2022. A special grace period from Saturday, May 7, 2022, through Friday, May 13, 2022, will be held to give employees additional time. Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to review and make changes to your benefit elections that will be in effect from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.
Please consider the following:
- Mandatory enrollment is required for flexible spending accounts (FSA) and dependent care flexible spending (DCFS). These accounts do not roll over to the new plan year and require a new amount to be elected.
- All other healthcare elections will roll over to the new plan year.
- Health savings accounts (HSA) will roll over to the new plan year (if not reelected) with the current contribution amount.
- Review or update life insurance and AD&D beneficiaries. Even if you are keeping all your elections the same and letting the system roll what you currently have (except for FSA/DCFSA), this is a great opportunity to review and update your beneficiaries.
- Benefit coverage elections will take effect on July 1, 2022.
- Benefit deductibles will reset on July 1, 2022.
- Prescription pre-authorizations may need to be renewed as of July 1, 2022 (check with your doctor and pharmacist).
To complete your enrollment, visit Online Enrollment.
We are also excited to announce the HR Benefits Fair will be held in person this year in the Hall of Flags on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Be sure to watch for all university communications sent through HRMatters, UVAnnounce, and PACE, as well as information mailed to your home.

Spring has sprung
Do you plant flowers? Are you a gardener? Do you have bees (beehives) or chickens?
Does your yard boast cool landscape features (i.e. a pond or waterfall, trellis, raised
garden beds, xeriscaping, or something really fancy)? Send me your pictures (with
descriptions) for next week's newsletter.
If you prefer Oreo dirt and gummi worms, you can send me pictures of your edible landscaping too. (I made this for Gavin's birthday cake a few weeks ago.)
Everyone who submits a relevant picture and description will get an $8 UVU food voucher.
