The Utah Valley University (UVU) Community Mental Health Clinic is a vital resource for the local community and UVU students. Many individuals face barriers to accessing mental health services, which are often cost-prohibitive. The UVU Community Mental Health Clinic seeks to bridge this gap by offering underserved populations affordable, high-quality mental health care. The clinic also addresses the growing need for mental health professionals by providing a practical, engaged learning environment for UVU’s mental health degree-seeking students.
The UVU Community Mental Health Clinic annually supports approximately 55 UVU student therapists who provide over 10,000 direct client hours. These students, purusing programs in marriage and family therapy, clinical mental health counseling, and master's degrees in social work, offer critical services to 3,000 to 4,000 community members annually. Most of these clients are underprivileged individuals who would not otherwise be able to access and afford the mental health or family support services they desperately need.
In addition to serving the community, the clinic provides overflow support to UVU students on extended waitlists for services at the student health center, ensuring timely access to mental health care for all.
The clinic incurs more than $350,000 in operating costs annually to maintain and expand its operations. Additionally, the dean's office hosts an annual mental health conference, which brings together mental health professionals from across the country, offering valuable opportunities for continuing education. This conference is a critical resource for local professionals but costs over $150,000 to host annually.
A donor securing the naming rights for the UVU Community Mental Health Clinic would play a foundational role in shaping the future of mental health services for both the local community and UVU students. This gift would establish an endowment to sustain the clinic’s operations as the need for its services grows.
This gift would fully fund the clinic’s yearly operational costs, allowing the clinic to continue providing crucial services to thousands of community members while training future mental health professionals. The clinic can focus on delivering comprehensive care without limitations and have operational expenses fully covered.
This would support the costs associated with hosting the annual mental health conference, ensuring that mental health professionals from across Utah can continue to receive up-to-date education necessary for their work.
This gift would create a dedicated fund to support UVU students working in the UVU Community Mental Health Clinic. It would provide resources for enhanced clinical training, supervision, and professional development opportunities. By investing in the next generation of mental health professionals, this fund ensures students gain the practical skills and experience necessary to meet the growing mental health needs of the community.
By supporting UVU’s Community Mental Health Clinic, you are investing in Utah’s well-being, the development of future mental health professionals, and the continued education of those already serving in the field. Your generosity will help sustain vital services and build a healthier, more resilient community for all. UVU appreciates your support in making a difference in the lives of many.
