Faculty Member

Dale Jolley is a retired sales director, neuromarketing researcher, family man, UVU faculty member, and part of the Woodbury School of Business.

After 25 years in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, Jolley was ready to buy a condo in the Virgin Islands where he and his wife could live out their well deserved days of retirement. Jolley was so set on this idea that when the Chair of the Utah Valley University (UVU) Marketing Department approached him about building the UVU SMARTLab and teaching Marketing courses, Jolley blew him off for six months. Jolley’s wife eventually convinced him to consider the amazing opportunity and it is a decision for which Jolley always thanks both UVU and his wife.

Currently, Jolley is the director of the SMARTLab (now Shadûf Biometrics) where he teaches students how to sell professionally and create market research projects. Several of his students have received incredible job offers and promotions into Ph.D. and MD programs. Under Jolley’s direction, UVU’s SMARTLab has won best in state five years in a row.

Jolley loves the UVU students, especially those who are first generation college attendees. He sees himself within them and feels an empathetic connection to their struggles of navigating college and hoping the dedication will one day all pay off. In his own college days, Jolley took credit loads of 23, 25, and 26 credits per semester while simultaneously working 20 hours and being engaged. He understands the woes of college life but has also experienced firsthand the ways it can provide wonderful opportunities. Jolley finds value in changing students’ lives through ways they never knew existed. Even Jolley’s own business degree has changed the lives of students by providing an example of what a college education can do.

“I love that I am able to give back to UVU,” says Jolley. UVU is the university that helped Jolley get on track and accomplish things in his career he could only dream of achieving.

Jolley once won a 10k race, he enjoys watching and playing sports, traveling, spending time with his family, and is grateful he decided to teach Marketing Research and Professional Selling courses at UVU. Jolley is Woodbury.
