Hospitality Management Alumni
Asmik Sargsian speaks four languages, sews for fun, manages the Chick-Fil-A on campus, is a UVU alumnus, and is part of the Woodbury School of Business.
In 2012, Sargsian came to Utah Valley University (UVU) for the one-year study course of English as a Second Language. After the course, Sargsian decided to stay at UVU because of the culture. During her first semester, Sargsian realized there was a difference in the relationship between professors and students she had not seen at other universities. This characteristic stood out to Sargsian and she felt a connection she did not want to leave.
As Sargsian started working as a supervisor for a burger place on campus that no longer exists, Douglas Miller, a UVU professor, came in to order a burger. When his burger was mistaken for another order and delivered messed up, Sargsian quickly stepped in to fix the order. After her interaction with Miller, he gave Sargsian his business card and told her to get in touch with him to
meet and talk about the Hospitality and Management program at UVU. Miller explained the Hospitality Management major to Sargsian and why she would be a great fit in the program. Sargsian says “ Dr. Miller helped me realize what I wanted to do because I was good at it!”
Sargsian has enjoyed working at UVU for over nine years now and is proud to say how great of an experience it was to be a student at UVU and be a recipient of so much support from the hospitality and management department. Sargsian is a ballroom dancer of 13 years, enjoys training her dog, learned to make bread when she was five years old and loves working at UVU Chick-Fil-A. Sargsian is Woodbury.
