Over 400 cars pulled through the Woodbury School of Business (WSB) parking lot to
celebrate 190 graduates receiving their diplomas at the drive-thru convocation ceremony.
Graduates waited in their vehicles until they reached the walkway, where they moved
across a UVU backdrop to receive their diploma cover from WSB deans and faculty.
“Last night’s WSB graduation drive-thru was a lot of fun,” said Don Capener, WSB associate dean. “A big thanks to Jenny Haroldsen for leading the entire event and festivities! These graduates and their families were so grateful, and several faculty and staff showed up to cheer them on.”
Families and friends of the graduates remained in their cars while waving, applauding, cheering, and most importantly, taking pictures of their graduates. Several participants decked out their cars in honor of the occasion. Willy the Wolverine also made a special appearance.
Graduates Karla Juarez, Sam Jones, and Madison Heywood shared their feelings about the unique graduation experience.
“It’s literally worth the wait for sure,” said Karla Juarez, marketing graduate. “Being able to celebrate with everyone is just amazing. I just love this moment.”
“UVU’s awesome! It’s kind of fun to graduate this way,” said Sam Jones, personal financial planning graduate. “I know a lot of other schools cancelled so it’s fun to have a graduation and be able to celebrate.”
“It’s weird but you can still do a graduation and so I think that’s the cool thing,” said Madison Heywood, hospitality management graduate. “It doesn’t stop anything; you just have to keep going.”
Congratulations to all WSB graduates, and best of luck in your future endeavors! Go Wolverines!
