Shawn Lindquist

Shawn is the chief legal officer of Vivint Smart Home, a Blackstone Group portfolio company and the leading provider of smart home services.  He reports to Todd Pedersen (CEO) and Alex Dunn (president).  Vivint’s revenues totaled nearly $760 million for the year ending December 31, 2016.  From February 2014 to May 2016, Shawn served as chief legal officer of Vivint Solar, Inc., a leading residential solar provider and the sister company of Vivint Smart Home.  Shawn helped guide Vivint Solar through a transformative growth stage, as well as the company’s $330 million IPO in 2014 on the NYSE and other financing transactions totaling nearly $2 billion.

From February 2010 to February 2014, Shawn served as chief legal officer, executive vice president and secretary of Fusion-io, Inc., a leading developer of flash-based PCIe solutions designed to enhance application performance in enterprise and hyperscale datacenters, which was acquired by ScanDisk Corporation / Western Digital.  He helped guide Fusion-io through a significant growth stage and several equity and debt financings, including its $270M IPO on the NYSE and $300M follow-on stock offering, as well as numerous strategic transactions, including several acquisitions of companies based in the U.S. and Europe and other partnerships with companies in Asia.  

From 2005 to January 2010, Shawn served as chief legal officer, senior vice president and secretary of Omniture, Inc., a leading provider of online business optimization software, through the completion and integration of the merger with Adobe Systems Incorporated.  He was responsible for all legal aspects of the company’s global operations in 20 different counties around the world.  He helped guide Omniture through its IPO – the #1 tech IPO in 2006, and its $150M follow-on stock offering, and numerous other strategic transactions, including several M&A deals (public and private) in the U.S., Europe and Israel, as well as the merger with Adobe valued at ~$2 billion.

Shawn has worked closely with emerging growth companies his entire career, particularly in the technology space.  Prior to Omniture, he was a corporate securities attorney with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C. (WSGR), the leading legal advisor to technology, life sciences, and other growth enterprises worldwide – initially in the firm’s Palo Alto California offices; he was later entrusted with helping to establish two additional offices for the firm, including Seattle, Washington – the firm’s first regional office location.  He also previously served as vice president and general counsel of a privately held VC-backed company and as corporate and M&A counsel at Novell, Inc.  In addition, he served for a number of years as an adjunct professor of law at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.  He co-authored The Initial Public Offering:  A Guidebook for Executive and Boards, with certain of his former colleagues at WSGR, and he has lectured and written articles concerning various governance, M&A and securities law topics, including the JOBS Act.  Shawn also serves as a member of the Foundation Board of Directors of Utah Valley University, which is the largest university in the state of Utah.
