Nancy Layton

Nancy Layton is mother of five and grandmother of fifteen and an accomplished oil painter. She maintains her art studio in Alpine. Her work has been recognized in the Deseret News Landscape Show, and in “plein aire” competitions in the area. She has shown in the Utah Images Show, Utah Artists League Show, Zions’ Bank Shows and Five Women Show at Every Blooming Thing where her work is represented. Nancy is a member of Women Out West Professional Artists of Utah and the Alliance of Covenant Artists.

Nancy graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University in Secondary Art Education. While attending BYU she was also captain of the Cougarettes and sang in the previous version of BYU Singers. She taught high school students in art subjects from 1975 to 1978. She raised her family with her husband, Tim, in Indiana, Virginia and Utah. After returning to Utah, she earned her M.F.A. in Studio Painting from Brigham Young University in 2006. Her final show was entitled “Private Places.” She has traveled extensively throughout the world, but her great love remains painting her native Utah’s diverse landscape. Her grandchildren live in five states from West to East Coast, which keeps her on the move!
