Dave Layton
David S. Layton was raised in the construction industry, mentored by his father who started Layton Construction Company in 1953. Over the past 15 years, David has served as President and CEO of Layton Construction Company, Inc. and oversees other Layton ventures and personal real estate development interests. Layton has offices in eight regional markets across the country. Currently recognized as the 53rd largest commercial construction company in the United States by Engineering News Record, Layton’s impact upon the construction industry in the intermountain west and nationally is noteworthy.
Mr. Layton received a civil engineering degree from Brigham Young University in 1988, and earned a Harvard University Business School executive management certificate in 2000 after completing an extensive three-year program with top executives from around the world.
Layton has served as a national director with Associated General Contractors (AGC) and was founding co-chair for AGC’s Young Constructor Forum. He is a member of the American Concrete Institute. He currently serves on the boards of the Utah Sports Commission, the Hale Centre Theatre, and the Zions Bank advisory board.
Mr. Layton’s service at the University of Utah is also significant, as he serves on the university’s National Advisory Council, the National Athletics advisory board, as a member of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Industry Advisory Board, and the College of Engineering National Advisory Council. He previously served on the Huntsman Cancer Foundation board, the University Healthcare Foundation board as well as the University Healthcare Board of Trustees.
David is married to his beautiful wife Julie, and between them are the parents of six children and seven grandchildren. They reside in Holladay and enjoy spending time together at Lake Powell and other warm destinations out of state.
