Personal Financial Planning

Program Introduction

The WSB Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning (PFP) prepares graduates with the courses necessary to meet educational requirements to sit for the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards, Inc. accreditation process. It is intended to prepare students to become fee-for-service professional planners with strong ethical standards who work with families and individuals developing specific budget, asset management, and related planning processes.

Personal Financial Planning Student Association

The Personal Financial Planning Student Association (PFPSA) is a student run organization that strives to build comradery, create opportunities, and empower students to make the most of their time at UVU! Students in the PFPSA are exposed to career development opportunities and networking events while participating in engaged learning. Additionally, the PFPSA offers students access to study groups and mentorship from Seniors and Alumni
Students studying together.

The Money Success Center

The Money Success Center (MSC) is a student run organization for students pursuing their degree in PFP. Students can volunteer to become a financial coach and provide financial guidance, education, and goal setting to other students and community members. The MSC provides a way for students to give back to their school, practice their skills, and gain experience hours to put towards their licenses!

Calculate present and future values, interest rate, payment, and number of payments of a client’s financial goal.

Create a comprehensive written financial plan for a client that is professional and integrates all aspects of their financial situation.

Present client recommendations in an interactive and professional oral presentation. .

Our Personal Financial Planning is registered through the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Board of Standards.

UVU’s Personal Financial Planning program provides the rigorous curriculum needed for students to receive a CFP® Certificate, and to be prepared for successful careers in financial planning
