The Utah International Mountain Forum (UIMF) is a coalition of student clubs at Utah Valley University. UIMF provides a unique engaged learning extracurricular activity that encourages students to advocate for sustainable mountain development locally and internationally. It was developed in 2011 as a result of joint efforts from the UVU History and Political Science Department, and the UVU Office of International Affairs and Diplomacy, which is now the UVU Office for Global Engagement. UIMF is made up of several UVU student clubs including: Sustainable Mountain Development, Foreign Affairs, Model UN, Rotaract, and others.
Together these clubs work under the umbrella of the UIMF to sponsor events which
Members of the UIMF gain professional skills through an engaged learning model by addressing real-world problems of mountain communities as a group with a faculty serving as a mentor.
UIMF strives to promote the sustainability of the world’s mountain environments and livelihoods by implementing three mountain targets as student engaged learning through advocacy, networking, knowledge sharing, and exchanges of best practices both locally and globally.
