Orem-Lindon Rotarians and UVU Rotaractors after planting tulips
Saturday, October 19, 2024, I had the privilege of participating in a particularly rewarding community service initiative organized by the 15 Orem-Lindon Rotary Club members and 2 Rotaractors. This flower planting activity took place at Nelson's Grove Park, Orem City, a peaceful public park that was transformed into a vibrant space thanks to the active participation of club members and volunteers.

Early in the morning, participants gathered in a friendly atmosphere for this day dedicated to beautifying the park. Under the leadership of Orem=Lindon Rotary Club President Mike Rich, we were joined by several active club members, including Cathy Ambrose, Dorman J. Smith, Debby Lauret, Jim Lauret, Cherise Armstrong, Cholpon Akmatalieva, Baktybek Abdrisaev, and many other volunteers, including Mary Cisneros. Together, we worked hand in hand to plant hundreds of flowers that will add color and life to the park for the months and years to come.

This activity was much more than just a gardening session. It was a true opportunity to strengthen ties between community members while contributing to a sustainable and meaningful project for the city. Teamwork, shared tasks, and the discussions that took place throughout the day enhanced the sense of community engagement, which lies at the heart of the Rotary Club’s values.

At the End, we had the opportunity to discuss the importance of local initiatives like this one with other participants, expressing our collective gratitude for everyone’s dedication. One of the active participants emphasized how actions like these not only improve the environment we live in but also foster a sense of belonging and solidarity within the community.

We also enjoyed refreshments while sharing our experiences and joy in being involved in community service. This gave us a chance to reflect on how such initiatives help make our public spaces more beautiful and enjoyable for everyone. As I spoke with one of the participants, I expressed my pride in contributing to a project that leaves a lasting positive impact. Each participant brought their enthusiasm and good spirit, making the day even more special.

This day was the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature, work the soil, plant seeds, and watch the park transform before our eyes. It’s gratifying to know that the flowers we planted will brighten Nelson's Grove Park in the days and for a long time to come, welcoming visitors and providing a relaxing space enhanced by our efforts.
