On Wednesday, September 20th and Thursday, September 21st, 2023 Utah Valley University held Club Rush. Rotaract at UVU, a student club focused on bettering our community and those abroad through service and advocacy, took part led by Rotaract President Carter Darger.

During both sunny days, many people stopped in, interested in learning about Rotaract, unaware of what we do. Many people were surprised to find out that Rotaract works alongside local Rotary clubs and non-profits to promote the general welfare in our community and abroad, and that we are constantly involved in service projects in our community and unbiased advocacy work for issues like Polio and Sustainable Development around the world.

Hundreds of Students at UVU were able to learn that Rotaract is a part of many initiatives in our community, such as Coats for Kids, while also leading and contributing to many events at Utah Valley University. During Club Rush, we highlighted our upcoming World Polio Day Observation in October, raising awareness for poliovirus which continues to impact communities all around the world. Each year, this event is sponsored by UVU Office of Global Engagement and the History & Political Science Department and led by student leadership sharing a common belief that any person can contribute to a large impact on the world for the better.
Overall, Rotaract’s participation at Club Rush was a success. We believe that getting the world out, even if just to one extra person, about the change they can make in the world is impactful; and with dozens of students joining the club, it is clear that students at UVU collectively strive for a more fair and equitable world both in Orem and beyond.
