Tree Campus Higher Education®

Tree Campus Higher Education® is a recognition issued by the Arbor Day Foundation to recognize higher education institutions that promote a healthy urban forest and foster student and community engagement with urban forestry. UVU has received the Tree Campus Higher Education® recognition each year since 2018. To earn this recognition UVU met the following 5 standards:

  • Standard 1 - Formed a Campus Tree Advisory Committee (Join the UVU Tree Advisory Committee).
  • Standard 2 - Prepared a Campus Tree Care Plan.
  • Standard 3 – Campus Tree Program with Dedicated Annual Expenditures.
  • Standard 4 – Arbor Day Observance.
  • Standard 5 – Service-Learning Projects.

Native Garden

The Native Garden - currently under construction - is a curated demonstration garden highlighting plants native to Utah and the intermountain West. It is located west of the Environmental Technology (EN) building and east of the ponds.

GRIT Garden

The Growing Resilience & Inclusiveness Together (GRIT) Garden - established Spring 2022 - is an inclusive space for the UVU community to come together in research, education, and community resilience. The Garden grows fresh produce for the UVU Food Pantry and provides space for academic research, campus & community education, and a space for the community to mindfully connect with nature.
