UVU celebrated the 51st annual Earth Day with a week of celebrations from April 17 to April 24. Earth Week was bookended by park & trails clean-ups in Provo Canyon & Slate Canyon. These events had over 300 volunteers sign up!

On Wednesday and Thursday (Earth Day) students, faculty, and staff (including our amazing President Astrid Tuminez) came together to plant 22 new trees on UVU's campus between I-15 and College Drive. We had over 20 volunteers from across campus come out and plant trees.

Additionally, throughout the week Wolverines participated in online activities to learn about their environmental impacts and actions they can take to live more sustainably.

We enjoyed celebrating Earth Week with everyone and look forward to seeing you all again at future UVU Sustainability events!

Green Your Graduation

Student participating in graduation

Congratulations to the Class of 2021! Your cap and gown may already be Wolverine Green but here are some tips to make your graduation even greener:

  • Send digital graduation announcements. Save time, money, and environmental impact by sending digital announcements.
  • Thrift, Swap, Borrow, or Reuse your graduation 'fit. Instead of buying a new outfit for graduation consider buying secondhand, swapping with or borrowing from a friend, or raiding your own closet.
  • Use low waste decorations. Choose decorations that can be used again or can easily be recycled. You can also DIY decorations by upcycling materials from around your home and using natural materials (leaves + hole punch = bio-degradable confetti!). Avoid plastic decorations, plastic confetti, balloons, and crepe paper as these are all non- recyclable.
  • Ask for donations in your name. Instead of physical gifts for graduation ask friends and family to consider donating to your favorite environmental charity or foundation in your name.

May is Bike Month
