The UVU Center for Social Impact takes a holistic and rigorous approach to driving effective impact. Our Strategic Impact Continuum serves as a guiding framework for students and community members, outlining essential steps to achieve sustainable and significant change.
Our social impact center believes that positive community outcomes begin with trust, empathy, and the ability to connect with others. That’s why we emphasize relational care — a commitment to responsibly engaging with the interconnected systems and relationships that shape our world and recognizing mutual dependence as a necessity for a healthy society. Our foundational “do no harm” values are what make relational care possible.
Social Change Design is part of our approach to social impact and includes tools like design thinking, systems thinking, theory of change, and impact measurement. These tools equip students at the social impact center to design, measure, and implement data-informed solutions that produce better realities.
Finally, we teach the application of these practices through the Six Pathways of Social Impact, a framework developed by Stanford University’s Haas Center for Public Service, which provides a cross-sector range of ways to contribute to the common good.
