Crime Statistics

UVU Crime Statistics are collected and reported to the state and federal government to assist them in tracking crime trends. In addition, UVU uses data collected from crimes occurring on campus to develop new crime-fighting programs targeting specific areas or types of crimes.

The data submitted to the state and federal government is available to the public. UVU submits National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) data monthly to the Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI). BCI is responsible for collecting this data for the state of Utah and forwarding it on to the FBI.

NIBRS data is available for all police agencies in Utah from BCI.

Nationwide NIBRS data is available from the FBI.

In addition to supplying NIBRS data, UVU also reports statistics to the Office of Postsecondary Education in the U.S. Department of Education  for use in the  Campus Safety and Security Data Analysis Cutting Tool. This  tool provides customized reports related to campus crime and fire data for over 6,000 postsecondary campuses across the country.
