Areas of Emphasis: Title IX, Title VII, Higher Education Act, law enforcement/public safety, Freedom of Speech and Due Process, disability law, legislative matters, and general student and faculty legal matters (including student and faculty discipline).

James advises committees, boards, and individuals across the university on matters of accessibility, Title IX/equal opportunity, student matters, free speech, law enforcement, research conduct and procedure, academic procedure, and other matters. James also assists and advises in litigation matters involving the University and supports stakeholders in risk transfer and hazard treatment strategies. James provides legal counsel to UVU’s department of Student Affairs.
