The Open Source Intelligence Center trains students using real world scenarios to ethically utilize open source data in pursuit of crimes against citizens, states, and nations as well as research designed to better the safety and security of the United States. As part of the OSIC program, students are assigned to one of our partners to complete one academic year of internship work. During this time the student provides real time intelligence during active criminal investigations and provides training on the very techniques they learned in the program. Applications are due April 1st each year to begin the program in the fall semester.
The following are the requirements to apply.

Interns from the UVU Open Source Intelligence Center have significantly enhanced our investigative processes allowing our officers to dedicate more time to other critical duties. UVU also provides excellent training in Open Source Intelligence that has greatly benefited our agency.
The OSINT training, covering various tools, that we received during our conference, transformed the observer into an analyst, helping us gain better intelligence.
The Utah Valley University Open Source Intelligence Center has been an invaluable partner, fostering collaboration, providing relevant ongoing training, and equipping interns with the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the Department of Public Safety’s Statewide Information & Analysis Center (SIAC) projects. This partnership has not only enhanced our work but has also led to successful hires from the program.
